Injured thumb pain relief?

Yesterday my thumb got stuck at a door knob space, and it pulled away some skin. Why am i so nauseated?!?!?!?

went to the Doc a couple days ago bc of chest aches...no cough. thought i had pneumonia, but xrays came back normal. They put me on prednisone which is a steroid to help the infection in my lungs and a z-pack (5 days worth of azythromiazyn antibiotics) my chest is better but i am SO nauseous! I just had my period like 10 days ago (it started 10 days ago) so i know im not preggo but its just like the constant nausea that i had with both of my pregnancies! could the steroid be causing this? i know the antibiotic could make me queasy but the last time i took it was last night around 6:30 so i dont think id still be feeling the effects. ive been drinking tons of water! i dont get it! what could it be?!

How old are you? And that sounds like youre over training for sure. If youre a hardgainer, aka have a hard time putting on weight etc, the you should only train 3-4 days a week. I know it doesnt sound like much, but you will achieve much better results in doing so. Also eat a lot. Like A LOT. Shoot for 4-5 meals a day. Also If you are trying to get bigger and not just tone you should lower your reps to a 5-6 range. Maybe 7, but no more than that. With that you should put on more weight. If you want to get bigger you want to shoot for more weight, less reps. If you want to get tone its opposite. I know this from experience. I used to life a lot. Heavily and daily and wasnt getting results. Finally i found a good resistance regimen and stuck to it. I went from 155 to 180 in two years. Also theres no such thing as "getting big fast". It takes a lot of time and a lot of dedication. Im not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to help. Cheers

Severe foot/ankle pain?

Back in April, I had an accident where I sliced open the top of my foot. I got stitches, and everything seemed okay. Within a few days of getting the stitches, the wound got infected with staph and it turned into cellulitis. Since then, I have been hospitalized twice for this and given antibiotics so often I'm likely immune to them all by now. The infection has cleared up, but here's the problem. Once the swelling goes down, it only stays that way for a week or so. I'm able to work without pain (I'm a chef) and things are great. Out of the blue, my ankle will begin to swell up on its own, with no new injury other than being on my feet at work. The doctors have done x-rays, MRI's, sonograms, and a few other things to determine what is wrong, but all tell me it is just in my head. I find this unnacceptable since my ankle looks like a grapefruit and is nearly impossible to walk on when it swells up. I should note that I do have flat feet, and have never really had much trouble with them until recently. Ever since April when the initial accident occurred, my ankle has had a mind of its own, swelling up and running its course for a week or more before I'm able to stand/walk pain-free. I have tried looking up different things to try pinpointing a cause but come up short. Any help with this would be great since it is really starting to get on my nerves.

I'm a pretty serious runner (I run half marathons) and I also play basketball. About 6 weeks ago, I went running, and from the very beginning, I felt this sharp/pulling pain in the back of my knee. I've never had any problem with my knees before, so I'm not very familiar with knee injuries. My first thought was that I tweaked a tendon or ligament. I stayed off it and iced it but there hasn't been any improvement. I finally went to the doctor and they did a physical examination, and they said my symptoms sounded like a Baker's cyst, except they couldn't find it. They said that a small cyst wouldn't be giving me this much pain. It occasionally causes pain under my kneecap, and my knee feels inflamed all the time. When I plant my foot and twist my knee/thigh inwards (to the left), I feel a painful pull in the middle of my knee, and then sometimes it locks when I twist it back. I can do almost all activities (except running and extended walking) and my range of motion isn't really affected. Any ideas what it might be?

I started playing about two weeks ago, my friend plays and helped me get a deck going which I finished the main deck two days ago and just need the extra deck which I ubersexual half of already. Ok, so lately I have been outside a lot so i get bug-bites. But two days ago I noticed bites (at least i think they are) in areas which are covered by clothing. Then they would itch worse than the regular mosquito bites and would burn like a sunburn if you touch them. I also found one kind of below my armpit that is swollen and red and inflamed. Need Help! Stomach Problem!?

I'm turning to strangers for advice because I can't find help anywhere else. I'm scared and I'm positive something is wrong. It all started in December when I came home from work, ate dinner (tuna fish to be exact) and minutes later I suffered severe nausea. I thought it was just the flu or food poisoning. A few days later I developed what I thought was acid reflux and I went to my doctor. He said it was just a stomach bug and I'd be better in a few days. He put me on prilosec. A few days later I went back to him and I still didn't feel better. Eventually, he referred me to a specialist in my area. After seeing the specialist, he drew blood and sent me for a scan of my colon/intestine. He determined that it could be H. pylori, the bacteria in your stomach that causes ulcers. So, he put me on three courses of antibiotics. I was on 2,000 mgs a day! Apparently that's the only way to kill that. I ended up in the hospital because the antibiotics were so strong. I fought through it, finished the meds, and I still didn't feel better! So I went back to the specialist and he said it must be just a virus that kinda "shocked" my stomach's nervous system and I'd be better in a few months. Between these visits, I was in the ER a dozen times. I also had a barium swallow done (where you swallow that chalky mixture and they take xrays of it going through your intestines) I've had numerous blood tests to rule out possible celiacs, lactose intolerance etc. Everything came back normal. So, eventually I was referred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, one of the best. They took me in right away and the Dartmouth doctor said something along the same lines as the other specialist. He said that a virus or a bacteria or toxin damaged my Enteric Nervous System (the part of your brain that controls your digestive tract) and that there sounds like slight stomach emptying problems which is causing acid reflux. He said I'd be better in a few months. That was 5 months ago. Recently I've also seen a throat specialist who diagnosed me with LPR, a form of acid reflux that damages your voice box. And I have to mention that I've been on prilosec from december to may and now Dexilant for two months as prescribed by the throat specialist. Yesterday I had bad diarreah and today I feel so heavy in my stomach, like it's not digesting anything. It's horrible. So to recap: I've had: A barium Swallow exam, small bowel follow up exam and xrays, scan and xrays of my colon, xrays of my stomach, intestines, an ultrasound, numerous blood tests, and have seen 12 doctors. They ruled out chrone's disease, celiacs, tumors, ulcers, etc. What could have happened to me back in december that was like a light switch and ruined my life??? I just want to get to the end of this. Please, if anyone has been through anything similar please help me. I've seen 7 ER doctors, two MDs, three gastroenterologists and a throat specialist. I just don't get it. Dartmouth said that he wasn't going to give me an endoscopy based on my age (26, male) and medical history and they are one of the best hospitals around. Also, I'm always constipated, always have an acid reflux feeling, always burping (not normal burps, though) and always always a full feeling in my stomach. I'm hoping someone out there has had similar expereinces cause damn, I feel scared and alone and feel like no one will listen. Yeast infection??? plz help?

so my area has been itching really bad and tonight it is almost unbearable. Three years ago i had the same problem (itching along with these white sores in my vagina) and i went to two doctors (i was a virgin then and still am, there is no possible way that this could be and std) and neither knew what it was but my one doctor just gave me an antibiotic and i was instantly cured in a matter of days. I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow but in the mean time dose any one have any ideas on why this is re curing, dose it sound like a yeast infections. i read that yeast is present all over especially in moist areas such as the mouth and i get mouth sores all the time Could they be related?? is that even possible???

Ok. My turtle went threw the same thing idk if i did the procedures right but my turtle did heal. First I let my turtle dry out by keeping it out of the water for a good 15-25 minutes. Next i put the turtle on a cloth and took a needle. I then gently stuck the needle a little bit into it resulting in this liquid type stuff (lookes like that type of stuff human cuts if its really bad pus or whatever) coming out of the bumb. Gently squezze it until you think it is all out. Next put the antibiotics on top of where your stuck the needle in. Clean the tank fully with disinfectant and and any other stuff you usually clean your tank with. But before you clean your tank put the turtle in a sink or bowl with water to let it soak and get moist again. After your done with the tank. Put the turtle back in the water in the tank. Put the anitbiotics on every morning and every night for a week or 5 days. And in a matter of time it will be all better. Its not professional but my great grandfather taught me this and it works. Drying the turtle will reduce the pain.But it is really better to take it to the vet because of the risk of killing your turtle and head trauma. Since they are in medical business i think they can get discounts only costing them around $40-100

Just released from hospital question about dizziness and weakness!?

I'm 32 yes old and have been sick since start of month. Just to be sure the doctor should have done a lymph node biopsy to see what the problem is. Your multiple swollen nodes could be a sign of a viral infection somewhere in ur body that maybe antibiotics isn't taking care. The fact ur nodes can be moved around and are soft sounds like a really good sign to me and sounds like an infection. Cancerous nodes tend to be hard and fixed. This question may sound personal, but if u are sexually active I think u should get tested for an STD and HIV/AIDS. I'm not saying thats what u have, but it sounds like some type of infection that is lingering somewhere. I don't think u should worry too much. just keep in touch with ur doctor and get some blood work done. Your doctor should be taking the necessary precautions to check what's going on. I seriously doubt it anything serious. I am in a somewhat similar situation as I have a swollen lymph node in my neck, collarbone and behind my left ear towards hairline and the strange part is that its all on the left side of my body on my head and neck region. I like the basic premise, but there are some serious problems that I don't know how you could work them out plausibly. First, for someone to play that kind of "joke" on their mother would be hideous. A missing teen means police involvement. If there is evidence pointing to murder, there would be Amber Alerts, townspeople searching, etc. The detectives would go through her room looking for any clues to who took her, including reading diaries. It would be very hard for even the mother to forgive her for such emotional agony and the friend would never trust her again. If that is what you are going for, then it could all be worked out. However, if she had previously been someone who did cruel pranks then why would your character have even stayed friends with her for so long? Just some points for you to think about. In the meantime, I like the answer where the main character is led to the place where she committed suicide but maybe the boy isn't asked to clean out her room. Maybe the mom finds something in the room (a book that was special to the both of them?) that she gives him and he discovers the clues in it or he re-reads it and the name of a place in it that they used to talk about triggers an idea of where her body is?

Inability to Urinate!!! HELP!?

Hey, I'm a 17-year-old female, and I have been having a HUGE problem that has persisted for over a year now-- chronic urinary retention (or repetitive inability to pee). It started when I was 16. I had driven to a soccer tournament and REALLY had to pee in the car... except when I got to the tournament, I wasn't able to go. Nothing I could do could help me pee, I couldn't even get a couple drops out. I played the next soccer game and tried not to think about it, but the pain in my bladder became so extreme that my dad rushed me to the hospital. I was catheterized, and tested for UTI, but all the tests came back negative. They simply gave me antibiotics, and sent me on my way. I thought the problem was fixed-- I was able to pee just fine for about a week-- but then one day, when I REALLY had to go again, I absolutely couldn't. I sat on the toilet for hours, and was finally able to get it out, bit by bit. This same scenario has repeated tons of times-- I have to pee, I can't, and I have to sit on the toilet until I can go-- and now these episodes are becoming more and more frequent. :(. The strange thing was, is that I had started taking Yaz birth control about the time that these episodes began, so thinking that that was the problem, I went off the pill... But nothing changed. To help myself pee, I've tried ice, warm baths, running faucet, etc., and nothing really seems to work. I just have to wait excruciating hours until I can pee again. But recently, two months ago, I was on vacation and was faced with another retention episode. I thought this would be just like the others, and diminish after a few hours, but it didn't. It became so painful, that I had to go to the infirmary and get catheterized AGAIN. By this point, my parents and I were freaking out. About a month ago, we saw a urologist. He gave me a prescription for Vesicare-- a drug that lessens the feel of needing to pee, but that hasn't helped at all. I still pee about every half hour of the day, if not more, and the episodes haven't quit. He gave me a cystocopy (a procedure that analyzes the anatomical make-up of your bladder, to check for physical problems), but THAT turned up negative, too. Suffice to say, this defect is RUINING MY LIFE. I'm afraid to leave home and go on car trips of vacations, because I'm afraid that I'll be faced with another retention episode and won't be able to go. It's painful, and I really don't know what to do. Is anyone dealing with a similar problem, or is there a professional, that can give me some legitimate advice?? I'm running out of options, and since I've had this problem for over a year now (and with it getting progressively worse) I feel that my bladder may be facing permanent damage. PLEASE HELP!!

What is going on with my tonsils?

Every couple months since I can remember as a child, into adulthood, my tonsils have swelled up and hurt like crazy to where I cannot even swallow. My mom always took me to the doctors and they never mentioned taking them out, they just continued to put me on antibiotics which obviously never worked. My father suffering from Pneumonia has patches still persisting in the upper lobe of his left lungs ?

My father is 76 yrs old and has been admitted in hospital. He was detected with pneumonia. X ray and Scan of Thorax (CRCT) was done which still shows some patch. Antibiotic dose are over, but the doctor is still not sure about the patch. He is terribly weak and is unable to sit up. He is still in hospital. He has cough but it is not coming out. Okay, so my best friend, Brandon, and I have been friends since over a year ago. We got really close really fast, and told eachother everything. He's been there for me through so much. Any advice on what this problem can be?

My mom has been getting this rash. It started on her hands very scaly and itchy then turned red. The rash eventually continued all over her body. It looks like little red dots some are individual and some are clustered together. A couple of them are starting to burst and bleed. She went to a dermatologist and they said it was seborrheic keratosis but, the symptoms and images are just not matching up with her problem. They are making her go for shots every week and her take antibiotics to help but, i don't want her doing that when she don't need it or it might not even be the problem.She is going for a second opinion soon. Is this alimony arrangement unfair?

The thing I don't understand about this whole concept of getting used to a certain lifestyle is why the one receiving alimony is suppose to continue having the advantages of being married (more money), but the one paying alimony isn'entitled to continue THEIR accustomed lifestyle by having their ex required to come over and still clean the house, do the laundry, cook the meals, etc. It's like they want the wife to continue with all the pros and none of the cons of marriage while the husband has to have all the cons and none of the pros.

I shoot in high res JPEG and usually after a trip or a shoot of my baby, I tweak the pictures I like and then export them in low res JPEGs for Facebook or other online albums. Over time, I have sub-folders called "low res jpegs" within each picture folder to store these lower res pictures. These folders, obviously, are not imported into Lightroom otherwise there will be duplicates. This system works but feels clumsy. Just want to see what other Lightroom users do out there.

Screen tearing with FGLRX drivers in Linux?

are there any tweaks i can do to help reduce screen tearing with FGLRX? i know it has a tearfree mode but that doesn't work for me. it fixed the tearing but with a serious performance hit so its no good. i tried the x.org drivers but they suck even worse. no tearing with x.org just terrible performance with 3D composition. FGLRX works best but with flaws. i have an AMD radeon 5570 redwood BTW and it runs a 24 inch flat panel running at 1920X1080. anything i can do? any tweaks that might smooth out the screen tearing? performance is good with FGLRX. i just cant get the screen tearing to stop. what can i do? i am Running Pardus Linux 2011 BTW. and i also Run openSUSE KDE. same problem in both. although its worse in openSUSE.

Is something wrong with my kidneys?

About a year ago almost, around september or october id say, i got a really bad urinary track infection. The doctors put me on antibiotics and while i was on them these cramps in my lower back started, i would get them a few times a day and the pain was almost unbearable, the pain would slowly creep in, hold me immobile for about a minute then slowly fade away, the doctor said it was just the infection and it should go away. Well after the infection was gone, i would get the same cramps every few months, but they are getting worse and worse, i started having them about once a month and now i have them a few times a month. A kidney infection cant last an entire year though, i dont know what to do. The cramps are in my lower back and sides, sometimes abdomen and last about a minute each with ridiculous pain, i cant find anything on the internet, help?

I have been very interested in determinism lately and I have been wondering if there are any counter-arguments. I personally am more Compatibilist than anything, and I believe that even if determinism is true, free will can still exist if the definition is tweaked a little bit. I think that the only way to disprove determinism is to show that events can happen randomly with no cause. So my question is if anyone knows of any arguments proving that events can be spontaneous, that would in turn disprove determinism.

My boyfriends last wisdom tooth was coming in and it began to come in crooked so his gums got extremely infected. He went to the dentist took his first antibiotic and we ve been kissing. Is his infection contagious? And if so what would the effects be? would i get a gum infection to or a different type of bacterial infection.

Cello fingertip injury, please advise?

I have been playing cello for 11 or so years. Last fall I was practicing 2-3 hours a day when all of a sudden I got a sharp pain in my left first fingertip, similar to a pinprick. There was no mark but after waiting a few days the problem hadn't gotten any better. A month later I tried again, and then every month or so since then. It has now been around 8 months and my finger still bothers me a bit when I try to play, although not nearly as much as it first did. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? If so, is it going to recover completely? And how long should I wait? I saw a hand doctor over the winter but he did not know much about instrument injuries and told me I had tweaked a nerve and just needed to wait a few months and it would be fine. Obviously that has not been the case. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Lots of watery discharge but no odour?

I have had sex twice unprotected with the same guy. After the first time, i got a burning sensation down below and it was itchy. I had lots of watery discharge coming out like a period but with no odour at all. He claims he pulled out before ejaculation. I have been on the pill for 3 years but took 2 antibiotics (Amoxicilin) yesterday but stopped taking them. After the second time, the itching has stopped and there is still no smell. It burns to urinate and there is so much watery discharge. What could this be? What are the chances of me being pregnant? If i took the morning after pill, would it still stop it from the first time we had sex 4 days ago?

Need Help! Stomach Problem!?

I'm turning to strangers for advice because I can't find help anywhere else. I'm scared and I'm positive something is wrong. It all started in December when I came home from work, ate dinner (tuna fish to be exact) and minutes later I suffered severe nausea. I thought it was just the flu or food poisoning. A few days later I developed what I thought was acid reflux and I went to my doctor. He said it was just a stomach bug and I'd be better in a few days. He put me on prilosec. A few days later I went back to him and I still didn't feel better. Eventually, he referred me to a specialist in my area. After seeing the specialist, he drew blood and sent me for a scan of my colon/intestine. He determined that it could be H. pylori, the bacteria in your stomach that causes ulcers. So, he put me on three courses of antibiotics. I was on 2,000 mgs a day! Apparently that's the only way to kill that. I ended up in the hospital because the antibiotics were so strong. I fought through it, finished the meds, and I still didn't feel better! So I went back to the specialist and he said it must be just a virus that kinda "shocked" my stomach's nervous system and I'd be better in a few months. Between these visits, I was in the ER a dozen times. I also had a barium swallow done (where you swallow that chalky mixture and they take xrays of it going through your intestines) I've had numerous blood tests to rule out possible celiacs, lactose intolerance etc. Everything came back normal. So, eventually I was referred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, one of the best. They took me in right away and the Dartmouth doctor said something along the same lines as the other specialist. He said that a virus or a bacteria or toxin damaged my Enteric Nervous System (the part of your brain that controls your digestive tract) and that there sounds like slight stomach emptying problems which is causing acid reflux. He said I'd be better in a few months. That was 5 months ago. Recently I've also seen a throat specialist who diagnosed me with LPR, a form of acid reflux that damages your voice box. And I have to mention that I've been on prilosec from december to may and now Dexilant for two months as prescribed by the throat specialist. Yesterday I had bad diarreah and today I feel so heavy in my stomach, like it's not digesting anything. It's horrible. So to recap: I've had: A barium Swallow exam, small bowel follow up exam and xrays, scan and xrays of my colon, xrays of my stomach, intestines, an ultrasound, numerous blood tests, and have seen 12 doctors. They ruled out chrone's disease, celiacs, tumors, ulcers, etc. What could have happened to me back in december that was like a light switch and ruined my life??? I just want to get to the end of this. Please, if anyone has been through anything similar please help me. I've seen 7 ER doctors, two MDs, three gastroenterologists and a throat specialist. I just don't get it. Dartmouth said that he wasn't going to give me an endoscopy based on my age (26, male) and medical history and they are one of the best hospitals around. Also, I'm always constipated, always have an acid reflux feeling, always burping (not normal burps, though) and always always a full feeling in my stomach. I'm hoping someone out there has had similar expereinces cause damn, I feel scared and alone and feel like no one will listen. I know that there's something wrong...Thanks for reading sorry it was so long.

What the heck is going on? ?

I have been on seasonique birth control for almost three months Which means my period should be starting next week but for some reason I feel like I could have gotten pregnant while I was taking antibiotics with no other protection. I have had weird things happen, headaches, nausea, feeling bloated, hungry and not gaining weight, tender chest, slight cramping and urgency to urinate but I'm still not sure anybody had this happen to them before. Can the symptoms of thrush go away without treatment?

Lately I had been taking antibiotics and I was almost certain that I have gotten thrush because of it. However, in the past few days the symptoms have gone away. Do I still need to treat it? I heard that thrush doesn't go away without treatment, but it seems to be gone.

I would give her the antibiotics, if she is having trouble breathing this cannot be comfortable or safe for her even if they don't work fully they may make it better for her. I'm sure you are trying to be a good parent by doing this but her body will still build up and immune system for it. I think it would make her more comfortable and much better, after all thats what they are for :) However it is totally up to you, you should be the one to decide! Hope she gets well soon :)

I had a BCG as KID, but always had a positive TB-est and negative X-ray... now a Doctor want me to take 300 pills for 9 months. I don't show any symptoms or so. Acne will not go away, what should I do?

I'm currently under a dermatologists plan that I started in mid February. I use Cetaphil as my cleanser (once in the morning, once at night) to clean my face before applying my prescriptions. I use Acanya gel (clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide) in the morning, and then apply Differin gel (adapalene) in the evening. I also take Doryx (antibiotic) once a day, and my face has cleared up, but then started breaking out more. Right next to my nose underneath my eyes there's a little acne left, but my forehead pretty much refuses to clear even though before I started I didn't even have acne on my forehead at all. My next check up is in July. Should I wait and talk with him, or is there anything I can do immediately to help with my skin?
