Gum infection contagious?

My boyfriends last wisdom tooth was coming in and it began to come in crooked so his gums got extremely infected. He went to the dentist took his first antibiotic and we ve been kissing. Is his infection contagious? And if so what would the effects be? would i get a gum infection to or a different type of bacterial infection.
