Is this alimony arrangement unfair?

The thing I don't understand about this whole concept of getting used to a certain lifestyle is why the one receiving alimony is suppose to continue having the advantages of being married (more money), but the one paying alimony isn'entitled to continue THEIR accustomed lifestyle by having their ex required to come over and still clean the house, do the laundry, cook the meals, etc. It's like they want the wife to continue with all the pros and none of the cons of marriage while the husband has to have all the cons and none of the pros.
