Dropped my HTC G2 into water will it work if i put it in rice?

I dropped my HTC G2 into the toilet on accident for a few seconds. I dried it off and attempted to power it up and it worked but then started tweaking out. I tried to do the rice trick immediately but I was at a friends house so they didnt have any. After I blow dryed it for a lil and turned it on and it worked touch screen included but then some things were malfuctioning. So I just left it off and when I came home I put it in rice for the last 8 hours and turned it on. It turns on fine except for the touch screen does not work... seeing that this phone is based around the touch screen I was wondering if the rice trick will stick work and if I should even bother or if I should just go to the store and get it replaced.
